Michaux Maximus Race Update

Greetings Michaux Racing Enthusiasts,
Over the span of 21 years and 54 events it has always been our goal to promote grass roots events that epitomize challenge, enjoyment, organization and most of all rider safety (as much as Michaux can be considered safe – think floods, rattlesnakes, hurricanes, hail, snow, wind, torrential rain, rocks, thunderstorms, ground swarms, and now fires). After much deliberation, due to logistical and safety concerns, I have made the decision to postpone Maximus to a future date.
We are currently working with Forestry to determine a reschedule date, which is tentatively set for June 11th. We will automatically roll your race entry forward to the new date. If the new date will not work for you we will either transfer your entry to The Curse of Dark Hollow on July 16th, The Terror of Teaberry on September 10th, or issue a refund of your race registration fee.
Of course, we will communicate new developments to you as soon as they become available.
I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and, as always, I thank you for your support.
If you have any additional questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Regretfully,
Rich Winkelmann – Race Director

Adams County Area Youth Composite Mountain Bike Team

The greater Adams County community has expressed interest in forming a composite youth mountain bike team. The interest will be explored initially by recruiting high school and middle school student athletes of any gender from the Gettysburg, Fairfield, and Upper Adams school districts. Due to the centralized location of Gettysburg, it would also be feasible to recruit interested student athletes from Littlestown, Conewago Valley, and Burmudian Springs. Formation of the team must be based on National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) and Pennsylvania Interscholastic Cycling League (PICL) guidelines.

There will be a team startup meeting on Tuesday, April 4, 6:00 pm at Gettysburg Bicycle and Fitness.

Yeti Sighting

With all this snow, there have been a few Yeti sightings. We just got in the SB4.5 Turq, SB4.5 and SB5. More on the way! Now is the time to get your bikes worked on before the weather turns nice.

Currently our turn around time on tuneups is 24 hours unless we need to order parts.

Ride To Gettysburg with Heroes – April 28-30

It is always so awesome to see they guys roll into town every year.

Face of America 2017 from national non-profit World T.E.A.M. Sports offers an inspiring weekend of bicycle and hand cycle rides to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania that bring together civilians with retired and active military and first responders, including adaptive military veterans and civilians from across the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada.

WT Face of America Bike Ride Flyer 2017.indd

Whether you select our classic two-day, 110-mile Arlington, Virginia to Gettysburg route, or our two-day, 120-mile Valley Forge, Pennsylvania to Gettysburg route, you will participate in an established event that inspires and satisfies. Face of America gives you the opportunity to join a growing community of caring people, both able-bodied and disabled, who ride the same road in honoring military veterans and first responders who have given so much in their service.

Presented by Capital One Bank, Face of America 2017 has a limited number of participant and volunteer entries through all categories. Owing to the limited numbers, early registration is highly encouraged.

Adaptive military veterans, first responders and civilians with disabilities ranging from loss of limb to paralysis to blindness to Post-Traumatic Stress participate at no cost. All other participants pay a nominal registration fee and are expected to meet or exceed category minimum fundraising goals. Funds raised through participant donations and fundraising with family, friends and colleagues will cover the costs of our participating adaptive riders, and also cover the expense of the event. Any remaining funds raised will support upcoming World T.E.A.M. Sports events nationally.
