Made With Love: Industry Nine – Video

Most people might know Industry Nine by its wheel’s signature buzz, and while the internals that create the noise are impressive, the process and community behind the entire wheel itself is equally remarkable. Since the company’s first wheels hit the ground in 2004, it has been continually innovating every process involved, be it at the drawing board, in machine shop or on the assembly line. Get a glimpse of the process—from lathing to lacing—in this episode of Made With Love.

Manufacturing—most people don’t think of it as glamorous, but there is an allure to it that inspires and drives creation. The process and production behind modern mountain bikes and their associated products is an art form in itself, one that captivates both bike nerds and bike jocks alike. Made With Love is a series designed to capture the literal nuts and bolts upon which our sport is built: The components and people that bring bikes from the assembly line to trail.–industry-nine.html

Hello Ladies!
Gettysburg Bicycle and Fitness is hosting a women’s group ride slated to start on Saturday May 6th. I’m wondering if you’d be interested. I was thinking a 25 mile loop (more or less), riding at a moderate pace of 14-16mph (more or less). Please reply to me ASAP if you are interested! Also include your time preference, would you like to ride at 8:00 or 9:00? Parking will have to be in the Edward Jones lot across the street from the bike shop. Happy Pedaling!

Michaux Maximus Race Update

Greetings Michaux Racing Enthusiasts,
Over the span of 21 years and 54 events it has always been our goal to promote grass roots events that epitomize challenge, enjoyment, organization and most of all rider safety (as much as Michaux can be considered safe – think floods, rattlesnakes, hurricanes, hail, snow, wind, torrential rain, rocks, thunderstorms, ground swarms, and now fires). After much deliberation, due to logistical and safety concerns, I have made the decision to postpone Maximus to a future date.
We are currently working with Forestry to determine a reschedule date, which is tentatively set for June 11th. We will automatically roll your race entry forward to the new date. If the new date will not work for you we will either transfer your entry to The Curse of Dark Hollow on July 16th, The Terror of Teaberry on September 10th, or issue a refund of your race registration fee.
Of course, we will communicate new developments to you as soon as they become available.
I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and, as always, I thank you for your support.
If you have any additional questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Adams County Area Youth Composite Mountain Bike Team

The greater Adams County community has expressed interest in forming a composite youth mountain bike team. The interest will be explored initially by recruiting high school and middle school student athletes of any gender from the Gettysburg, Fairfield, and Upper Adams school districts. Due to the centralized location of Gettysburg, it would also be feasible to recruit interested student athletes from Littlestown, Conewago Valley, and Burmudian Springs. Formation of the team must be based on National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) and Pennsylvania Interscholastic Cycling League (PICL) guidelines.

There will be a team startup meeting on Tuesday, April 4, 6:00 pm at Gettysburg Bicycle and Fitness.
